Here is yet another reason why Hillary Clinton and the progressive socialist left must not win in November.
As Written By Allen B. West:
There’s a quote attributed to George Orwell that’s particularly apt for this post: “The further a society drifts from truth the more it will hate those who speak it.”
For example, it’s amazing to me how simply reading the words of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Explanatory Memorandum draws the ire of folks who wish it remained unknown. You might recall what happened to me recently in St. Louis. But I digress.
What’s highly disturbing is we have a very complicit media enabling the atmosphere of universal deceit in American society. Take what’s happening to the NFL right now. You might think football would be far removed from the liberal agenda. It’s just a game, right? Wrong.
As reported by the Washington Post, “Football, America’s biggest prime-time powerhouse, has been thrust into a crisis this fall, with dwindling ratings sparking questions over whether it can remain a gold mine for television in an age when more Americans are abandoning traditional TV.
Network executives have long used the National Football League’s live games as a last line of defense against the rapid growth of “cord-cutting” and on-demand viewing upending the industry.
But now, the NFL is seeing its ratings tumble in the same way that the Olympics, awards shows and other live events have, falling more than 10 percent for the first five weeks of the season compared with the first five weeks of last season.
A continued slide, executives say, could pose an even bigger danger: If football can’t survive the new age of TV, what can? Football’s traditional TV audience “is never going to be what it was again,” said Brian Hughes, a senior vice president at Magna Global, which tracks audience and advertising trends.
The explosion of modern entertainment options, offered on more devices and at any time, has splintered American audiences and sped TV’s decline, Hughes said.
“Sports seemed to be immune from it — it was live, the last bastion of broadcast television. But [the world] has caught up to it now.” Network and league executives are scrambling to identify causes. Many have pointed to the highly televised 2016 presidential campaign, which has led cable-news ratings to explode. Election years often thin sports ratings, but the NFL has never seen a drop as dramatic as this year’s, Nielsen data shows.
In 2008, for example, ratings over the course of the year declined 2 percent, and in 2000 they declined 10 percent. During the first five weeks of this year, ratings have declined 15 percent compared with the entirety of last year.”
Y’all know I’m one big college football enthusiast, and boy, this past Saturday did Alabama beat my Tennessee Volunteers like they stole something. Good thing the Vols have a bye week coming up before the final five games of the season — they could use some time to heal.
However, what’s interesting about this revelation is the article says nothing about college football. Consider over 150,000 watched Virginia Tech and Tennessee play the “Battle for Bristol” earlier this season– and it was widely watched on ABC that Saturday evening. Heck, Notre Dame has been able to maintain its own home football game televised schedule on NBC. I can easily identify the cause for the NFL and the person writing that WashPo article.
The American people are pissed off about the spoiled, pampered, multi-millionaire athletes who are disrespecting the American flag and our national anthem with no consequences from the NFL.
We shared here the letter sent from the chancellor of the University of Texas systems to all athletic directors and coaches. Of course the University of Texas chancellor is a former U.S. Navy SEAL and commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, Admiral William McRaven, for whom the American flag has a very special meaning.
Perhaps, if Roger Goodell took a different position than laissez-faire, the NFL ratings would be somewhat higher. Sure, everyone’s going to respond that the NFL players have a freedom of expression, but the hypocrisy is very evident.
Goodell refused to allow the Dallas Cowboys to wear a helmet decal honoring the five fallen Dallas Police Officers from July 7th this year. It was the NFL who fined players for wearing shoes in tribute to 9-11, the opening day for the NFL. Yet, taking a knee during the national anthem or wearing socks depicting law enforcement officers as pigs…no problem.
I cannot believe this article fails to state what is exactly happening here in America. The “irredeemables” and “deplorables” are responding by not giving their patronage because out there is “real” America, they still love their country. You know, those folks who cling to their “guns and religion.”
This has nothing to do with the presidential debates or other ways to watch NFL games. Maybe, just maybe, there are those who feel Sunday belongs to God and country…and those who disrespect the latter will not earn their viewership. Just go back and watch the singing of the national anthem at the Bristol Motor Speedway game — the placards in the audience, the beautiful rendition, and the pageantry.
That’s what separates the college game from the NFL, not to mention young men playing their hearts out for their schools — not for big bucks and overblown egos.
This Washington Post article is part of the deception by the elite progressive socialist media that doesn’t want to admit to the phenomena that has resulted in lower ratings for the NFL starting this season.
Now, I can bet that if Goodell knew then what he knows now, he would have taken a different stance. I remember when Robert Griffin III was fined for wearing apparel that celebrated his Christianity — that violated league rules. Remember how the liberal progressives just pilloried Tim Tebow for his open display of faith? The NFL penalizes players for excessive celebration, but the greatest celebration, that of our America, can be disrespected.
Here is yet another reason why Hillary Clinton and the progressive socialist left must not win in November. The entertainment, cultural, political, educational and media elites have no issue with conveying their disdain towards the symbols that reflect our national character.
They assail us for being too “American” and not accepting the imperfections and failures of our country. They act as though pride in America is a dangerous thing — you know, that whole belief in exceptionalism and what they see as the threat of nationalism.
And so, in utter dismissal, the whole ratings issue for the NFL has nothing to do with the NFL itself and some of its players, but supposedly the issue has to be found elsewhere — no one in the liberal progressive media would ..
