Peace comes through strength, not the folly of hope and change — and certainly not the touchy-feely “stronger together” empty rhetoric. My friends, it is indeed a time for choosing.
As Written By Allen B. West:
Leadership is about having a prescient vision.
Here’s a little history for y’all….I remember first reading the accounts of the Battle of Gettysburg and how Union cavalry Commander General JNL Buford came upon the town of Gettysburg, gazed down the Chambersburg Pike and saw the lead elements of Robert E. Lee’s army of Northern Virginia led by Harry Heath. Buford quickly assessed the situation knowing that the main body of the Army of the Potomac, the Pennsylvanians, led by General Reynolds were trailing back. Buford knew the key to the battle was seizing the high ground — remembering the utter disaster the previous November-December for the Union Army at Fredericksburg where Lee held Marye’s Heights and pummeled the Union forces, even though they had taken the city of Fredericksburg.
So Buford deployed his force astride the Chambersburg Pike to fight a delaying action knowing that the key high ground was beyond the city on cemetery ridge. Buford was hit hard and Lee decided, awkwardly so since he had no Cavalry himself as JEB Stuart was elsewhere in Pennsylvania, to commit to battle, not knowing the lay of the land…not knowing Buford’s brilliant strategy. Buford’s cavalry held just long enough for Reynolds’ lead elements to join and be deployed into the battle…and even as the Confederates pushed them back, believing success, they were unable on Day one of the Battle of Gettysburg to seize the all-important high ground.
Leaders have vision and see not just in the moment, but ahead into the future, and make plans that guarantee success and victory.
And so here on these pages we’ve been warning for quite some time of the danger of the Russians deploying the venerable S-300 surface-to-air missile system into the Middle East — namely in Iran and Syria.
In complete violation of Obama’s piece of paper — remember how Hitler referred to the signed agreement with Neville Chamberlain? — Iran has the S-300 and deployed them at their nuclear facility at Fordo/Parchin.
Now we have even “better” news, as reported by RT.com, “A battery of Russian S-300 air defense missile launchers has been transported to Syria, Russia’s Defense Ministry said in a statement. Its sole purpose is to defend a Russian naval base and warships, the ministry added.
The information about the S-300’s deployment was confirmed by ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.“Indeed, the Syrian Arab Republic received an S-300 anti-aircraft missile system. This system is designed to ensure the safety of the naval base in [Syrian city of] Tartus and ships located in the coastal area [in Syria]…” he told the media.
Konashenkov said it is unclear why the deployment of the missile system has created such a fuss in the West. “The S-300 is a purely defensive system and poses no threat,” he said. He recalled that before the deployment of S-300, Russia had delivered Fort air defense missile systems to Syria.
The statement comes after a report by Fox news that a Russian S-300 was deployed to Syria. The media cited three US officials who claimed that Moscow “continues to ramp up its military operations in Syria.” In November 2015, Moscow deployed its newest S-400 air defense missile system to Khmeimim in Syria as part of a security boost following the downing of a Russian jet by Turkey near the border with that country. At the time, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the S-400 systems are not targeting Russia’s partners, “with whom we fight terrorists in Syria together.” The S-400 is the most advanced anti-aircraft defense system in Russia.”
It’s a brilliant strategic move by Vladmir Putin — yes, I will give credit where credit is due, because Barack Obama created a vacuum in the Middle East. It was initially filled with Islamic terrorists and jihadists. It also appears that Obama supports these jihadists. Therefore, in the absence of his leadership, a lack of prescient vision, Putin filled the void.
Remember, it was our global security rookie of a president who chastised Mitt Romney four years ago in a presidential debate for referring to Russia as our major geopolitical threat. Obama made the insidious, stupid, and flippant comment that “the ‘80s were calling and wanted their foreign policy back.”
It was also the inept and incompetent Barack Obama who said in an “off-mike” moment to then-Russian president Dmitry Medvedev, “tell Putin I’ll have more flexibility after reelection”…yep, and Vladimir has twisted his skinny butt into a pretzel!
Here’s the danger with the S-300 and S-400 systems… First of all, the Iranian nuclear agreement was supposed to preclude Iran from attaining any conventional weapons for the next five years. HA.
Yes, these are defensive systems, so why put them at a nuclear facility unless you’re defending something that needs to be attacked?
Second, to deploy these systems into Syria — and they have a broad range, not just a port facility — what happens with arms shipments arriving that are intended for Iranian Quds forces and Hezbollah now freely operating in Syria — ya think Israeli PM Netanyahu is gonna just sit back and allow that kind of foothold to his north?
Well, now that Russia has deployed these assets, it’s going to be REALLY hard to do anything about it without dire consequences. And what about U.S. fighter aircraft, are we going to be able to strike ISIS sanctuary targets? Nope, Russia has used the ISIS issue as a means to could mask their TRUE intentions in Syria: prop up Assad, support Iran, and establish themselves in the Middle East.
But Russia isn’t the only one getting some action here…”Beijing and Damascus have agreed that the Chinese military will provide humanitarian aid to Syria, a high-ranking People’s Liberation Army officer said, adding that the training of Syrian personnel by Chinese instructors has also been discussed. Director of the Office for International Military Cooperation of China’s Central Military Commission, Guan Youfei, arrived in Damascus on Tuesday for talks with Syrian Defense Minister Fahad Jassim al-Freij, Chinese Xinhua news agency reported.
During the negotiation, Guan noted China’s consistent diplomatic efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis, adding that Beijing is now seeking closer military ties with Damascus.
“The Chinese and Syrian militaries traditionally have a friendly relationship, and the Chinese military is willing to keep strengthening exchanges and cooperation with the Syrian military,” he said. Guan and al-Freij discussed the enhancement of training and “reached a consensus” on the Chinese military providing humanitarian aid to Syria, Xinhua reported, without providing further details.
According to the agency, Guam also met with a Russian general during his visit to the Syrian capital. China has been operating in Syria alongside Russia and Iran in a “discreet manner” but now the time has come to “openly” step up anti-terrorist efforts, believes political analyst Roula Talj.
“We will see more involvement of China, of Iran and Russia. They will go [in] stronger after ISIS, especially after Russia-US talks. I do not think the US will have any chance to oppose the interference of these allies. The US president or any candidate will have to answer their own public[’s] opinion, so it is good for them that someone else is doing the dirty job,” Roula Talj told RT. “In the face of their own public[’s] opinion they have to be grateful that somebody else is cleaning the mess they had created, especially as ISIS is getting stronger every day inside of Europe. Of course, they are not extremely happy to see the BRICS countries taking over.”
So while Obama was playing golf and traipsing around being a celebrity, real world leaders were planning their strategic move. A new axis has formed on the watch of Barack Obama, and now we want to have another idiot for president, the one who gave the little yellow toy box with the red button to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov touting a “reset.”
Doggone, we must look like blathering fools to Vladimir Putin, Xin Jingpin, and Hasan Rouhani. And here we are in our presidential political discourse talking about former Miss Universes and folk’s taxes from twenty years back.
Where are our JNL Buford’s who could see the battle not in the present, but the future and its outcome, and shape a strategy to achieve victory? We cannot continue down the path of foreign policy and national security like …
