BARBER: Time for Civil Disobedience, Christians

The push back has begun. Christian business owners, lawyers, parents, judges, county clerks, organizations, universities, hospitals, adoption agencies and other individuals and groups have been given an ultimatum by five unelected, unaccountable liberals in Washington, D.C.: “You must now obey us and disobey God. You must pretend, with us, that sin-based same-sex ‘marriage’ is an actual thing.”

To which we say, “Not on your life.”

“Or our own.”

Absolute truth is a stubborn thing. Attempts at marital alchemy notwithstanding, the highly contentious, wholly contemptible 5-4 “gay marriage” opinion (and that’s all it is, an opinion) released last week by five pagan extremists in black robes is altogether illegitimate and should be treated as such.

From a moral, biological and legal standpoint, the court’s majority opinion in Obergefell v. Hodges is a complete farce. It’s an absurd missive, a bohemian word salad that was roundly, and rightly, condemned by the court’s four dissenting justices. “The Supreme Court of the United States has descended from the disciplined legal reasoning of John Marshall and Joseph Story to the mystical aphorisms of the fortune cookie,” mocked Justice Scalia.

These “five lawyers,” as Chief Justice John Roberts called them, can no more suspend the laws of natural marriage, than can they suspend the laws of gravity. “[D]o not celebrate the Constitution,” wrote Roberts. “It had nothing to do with it.”

    There are so many flaws in your comment I’m not sure where to start.
    But first, you stated in your original comment;
    “It’s okay dude, no LGBT couple wants to get married in your bigoted church, which I’m sure is full of people that refuse to recognize same-sex marriage.”
    THAT in itself is supporting gay marriage and condemning churches that stand on the word of God against it..
    As born again Christians we DO NOT recognize that which is an abomination to God and against His word, and by YOUR statement, YOU DO.. So as I said, you are NO Christian…

    Second, you are apparently ill informed concerning our history and it founders as the majority of the laws in our constitution came out of God’s word. (look it up)…
    55 of the 57 men who signed the Declaration of Independence and later formulated the Constitution were evangelical Christians and several of them were ministers.

    Third. The “establishment clause” that you refer to was to prevent the government from establishing a state run religion such as England had. It has nothing to do with the church and Christian beliefs.

    Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1808;
    “I consider the government of the United States as interdicted by the Constitution from inter-meddling with religious institutions, their doctrines, discipline, or exercises. This results not only from the provision that no law shall be made respecting the establishment or free exercise of religion, but from that also which reserves to the states the powers not delegated to the United States. Certainly, no power to prescribe any religious exercise or to assume authority in religious discipline has been delegated to the General Government. It must then rest with the states, as far as it can be in any human authority.”

    In short, the government (or supreme court) has no right to interfere with our Christian faith and our beliefs in any manner. And THAT is exactly what they are doing….

    President John Adams, signer of the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights stated in 1798;
    “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion…Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

    John Jay, the First U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice, said; “The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the word of God and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and in the next. Continue therefore to read it and to regulate your life by its precepts.”

    Fourth, you stated; “but think your religion should dictate what couples can get married?”
    YOU said you were a Christian, yet you are saying that you accept and condone homosexual marriage by that statement. YES, any Bible believing church and Christian, and “I Am A CHRISTIAN” will object to the marital union of same sex persons. Once again, YOU deny God’s word and bring into question your statement of being a Christian.

    And lastly, NOW thanks to the Supreme Court ruling and the governments interference, the law will “require” that we accept and condone this immoral action, thus “FORCING” it upon us. And if the church refuses to perform such an abomination, they will be subject to disciplinary action under the law including more law suits… YOU cannot have it both ways…

    So true. As we all know, when the White Throne Resurrection comes, we will be Judged by what God as written, no! WHAT WE HAVE HAD WRITTEN IN OUR BOOK OF LIFE! And I KNOW that Ihave a lot to answer for!
    Only one person has not broken Any of GOD’S LAWS! And we know that the devil tried! Did everything he could! But Jesus Christ stood by his fathers laws! But, each of us have to try to follow his laws! And I will say, I catch myself, after the fact, breaking some of them, DAILY !
    What Will be written in your Book of Life today? We each have to try to keep this book closed! Impossible I know! But we should try our best! But I have to ask? How many people here, go to their church on the First Day of the Week? And does the preacher tell the truth? Or does he or she teach MANS thinking? Us see where this goes!

    I certainly believe in civil disobedience in this case because from a moral, religious and biological stand of view homosexual sex is sinful but like every other sin(s) if you confess those sins then God in His eternal mercy will forgive you and cleanse you of all unrighteousness.

    Then tell that to the Christian caterers who won’t participate in their religious ceremony based on conscience and is being sued, along with bakers, and now some clergy members, who are being threatened with fines, etc. BS there is a radical element that is purposely targetting Christian businesses so as to put them out of business through huge fines. I knew from the get go this was going to get ugly. There are alot of decent homosexuals who would respect a Christian on their moral compass and simply find another church, bakery etc. But there is also an ugly element who want to push the envelope out of hostility, vengeance and anger. And to call someone bigoted because they don’t agree with your lifestyle is hypocritical. You, sir, are also a “bigot” by definition.

    Did you have trouble understanding to what I was referring. It was to the power of the court as enumerated in The Constitution. They have the power to interpret the law. They do not have the power to write the law. The activist judges on the court have exceeded their Constitutional authority as was pointed out by the unprecedented issuance of 4 dissenting opinions with one being written by each of the justices who dissented. Now, “Go and sin no more”.

      So, they can interpret the law, but can’t strike down any laws (or same-sex marriage bans) you like? That’s not how the justice systems works sir, much less the Supreme Court. It’s called checks and balances and in case you missed a government class or two in high school, it keeps other branches of government (federal or state level) from wielding too much power over their constituents, and taking away the “freedom” brainwashed citizens always like to remind us we have.
      I’m betting you’d be totally fine with SCOTUS striking down gun control laws and/or banning abortions.
