Happy Tax Day America…and remember, if you decide that your future includes another four years of President Barack Hussein Obama, you will experience the largest tax increase in American history starting 1 January 2013.Tax Day is not just a day for requiring American citizens to cut their annual check to Uncle Sam; it is an opportunity to highlight a series of facts and figures to examine the merits of U.S. tax policy. Given the recent increased discussion surrounding tax reform, this information can assist in determining the most prudent direction to pursue reform:
The Impact of the President’s “Buffett Rule” Proposal:
President’s proposed tax increase would require Americans making over $1 million per year to pay an effective tax rate of at least 30%. The President stated of the Buffett Rule “…if applied to our tax code, could raise enough money” to “stabilize our debt and deficits for the next decade…This is not politics; this is math.”
According to the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Buffett Rule would raise $47 billion over ten years. The President’s budget calls for adding $6.7 trillion to the national debt. The Buffett Rule would cover ½ of 1 percent of the President’s spending plan.
If the government collects the Buffett Rule tax for 250 years, it would not cover the Obama deficit for 2011 alone.
The Buffett rule would pay for 17 days of the President’s deficit spending over the next 10 years.
The House passed Republican budget lowers the debt 62 times more than the Buffett Rule.
The Complex, Inefficient, and Inequitable Internal Revenue Code:
Americans are taxed too much and too often. The average American employee will work 107 out of the 365 days per year to pay federal, state, and local taxes. 29.3% percent of their year is spent working for the government.
In 1955 there were 409,000 words in the entire tax code. There are now 3.8 million words in the tax code.
There are at least 480 tax forms on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) web site. As a result of this complexity, it takes 300,000 trees each year to create and distribute all necessary tax forms.
To deal with such a convoluted code, the IRS employs 114,000 people. That is double the amount of employees at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and five time the amount of employees at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Americans have been working countless hours to comply with our nation’s burdensome tax code, 6.1 billion hours a year according to the National Taxpayer Advocate.
The Tax Code and American Competitiveness:
On April 1, 2012 the United States claimed the mantle of having the highest statutory corporate tax rate in the world at 39.2%.
According to the World Bank, there have been 133 major corporate tax cuts globally since 2006. None of which were enacted by the U.S.
Of the 33 non-U.S. Organization of Economic Cooperative Development (OECD) countries, 28 cut their corporate rate during the past ten years while two had no change.
2012 marks the 21st year in which the U.S. corporate tax rate has been above the average of OECD nations.
DONATE & VOLUNTEER FOR CONGRESSMAN ALLEN WEST AS HE SEEKS ELECTION IN FLORIDA’S DISTRICT 18
“US Rep. Allen West (CD 22) speaks at a tax day rally in Wellington, Florida on April 15, 2012 and calls out Obama. The silence from the other side is deafening! Why have an honest debate about actual issues when you have lies, distortion, rhetoric, empty slogans, personal attacks, sound bites, bumper sticker brilliance, voter fraud and lapdog media spinmeisters on your side libs and lefties! That’s what’s left when you have no positive record to run on, no new ideas (just warmed over 20th Century already tried and failed big government solutions that create more problems than they solve) and nothing positive to say, absolutely nothing! Rep. West asks in the video what the other side’s vision of the future is. I’ll tell you what it is, it’s already here on the other side of the ocean (and its not a pretty economic picture, its actually quite grotesque)…..”The United States of Greece/Italy/Portugal/Spain/Ireland” and “have a nice day”. The Tornado(aka – Tanya Grimsley – @luvGodncountry) preps LTC West for an excellent, rousing Tax Day Tea Party Speech in Palm Beach County, Florida! He did not disappoint!
Congressman West on the “Liberal” media, “it’s all about fear.”
Congressman Allen West is interviewed by John D. Villarreal of Conservative New Media on a range of issues including the 2012 Election, President Obama, Presumptive GOP Presidential Nominee Governor Mitt Romney, Tax Policy/The “Buffet Rule,” Government Spending & the National Debt, the media, and more!
This past week, the crotchety Majority Leader, Senator Harry “Extreme” Reid, (Lib-Dem NV); we are treated to another classic slap-down by a first-termer Congressman putting the irascible and testy Senator back on his heels.
In a report by Dustin Stockton – Western PAC on the same Saturday, January 21, 2012, the rookie Congressman, Allen West, (R-FL) responded to Senator Reid’s typical and boring remarks blaming the Tea Party and in particular, the recently-elected representatives of being “extremists” and “obstructionists on steroids.”
Reid’s personal lexicon of chastising words appears to be extremely pint-sized and limited to mostly just two words, ‘extreme’ and ‘draconian’ a sort of ‘cover all situations’ library. His recent use came while criticizing the Republicans and Tea Party participants for, as Dustin Stockton details, “attacking us for simply saying ‘no’ to endless government spending.
As Stockton points out, however, “Luckily, we have leaders like the freshman Congressman, Rep. Allen West, who responded to Reid this week, saying “Reid’s attack shows how threatened he is by our (Tea Party) movement, and that he will stop at nothing to continue his party’s reckless spending habits.
“This past Sunday on Meet The Press, we saw Senator Harry Reid talk about people being obstructionists. We saw him blame the Tea Party, we saw him blame Senate Republicans. He’s even blamed House Freshmen on the Republican side.
“But what Harry Reid does not understand simply, the constitutional conservative grassroots movement called the Tea Party stands for this, they stand for fiscal responsibility, they stand for fiscal sanity. And the American people have to balance budgets in their homes. Our small business owners have to balance budgets to run their businesses. So obviously what Harry Reid calls obstructionism as I look at it, he stands for fiscal irresponsibility. He stands for fiscal insanity!”
Dustin Stockton continued, “Like Rep. West, we are proud to be considered “obstructionists” by those who seek to bankrupt our nation. But make no mistake: Harry Reid won’t be satisfied with just attacking us in the media.”
Reid’s personal venom extends to any measures, no matter how unprofessional or otherwise that will stop the reelection of the Tea Party first year Congressmen who put our country’s needs first and foremost on their agendas.
As my readers have noticed that in the past I have not endorsed any of the candidates; I kept looking for a strong conservative but the only one that had appeared was Michele Bachmann who did not wage a favorable campaign and dropped out.
Newt Gingrich’s positions on the illegal immigration issue have been, to say the least, unclear most of the time. But his aggressive stance when threatened with possible “dirty” politics by CNN’s John King showed me that here was a man that will stand toe to toe with Barack Obama and when the going gets tough in a debate over fiscal responsibilities and other constitutional obligations, he will land the knockout punch without delay and retire the usurper in the White House.

At a packed Boca Raton Tea Party event Tuesday night, Allen West began by clearing up questions about the controversial National Defense Authorization Act in the following video:
Congressman Allen West for US Congress – Florida CD22
Greetings to our constituents, fellow Floridians, and all Americans. As I wrap up the previous week I am first and foremost thinking about my brothers in arms- praying that my Marine brothers and sisters had a great 236th Marine Corps birthday, and my fellow veterans had a superb Veterans Day.
Veterans Day was a memorable day that will not come again for another 100 years, as we witnessed the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in the 11th year. May God continue to bless those who were willing to make that last full measure of devotion to our beloved Constitutional Republic, the United States of America.
This past week was a very engaging week in our Congressional district. Americans are paying attention and concerned with everything from domestic economic to foreign policy and national security.
Most concerning right now is the news that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) submitted a formal report confirming Iran is marching closer to having a militarized nuclear device. There is no doubt this is a 21st century Chamberlain-Churchill moment for the United States and the world. We must come to grips with understanding the theocracy behind the motive in Iran. History has certainly proven that compromise, appeasement, and negotiations are ineffective means to persuade dictators, despots, autocrats, and theocrats. America must present a credible military threat, option, and presence to Ahmadinejad and Ayatollah Khamenei. This is why “zeroing out” an American military capability in Iraq makes no strategic military sense. Still, for President Obama it does make political expedient sense, and that in my opinion is the obvious reason for his decision.
During my trip to Israel this past summer, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed to the Congressional Delegation the importance of retaining an American military presence in Iraq, to stymie any regional, hegemonic expansion of Iran. There is no doubt that Israel has the capability to take unilateral action against Iranian aggression and the country’s nuclear program. Israel has shown the ability to do so, as in Iraq and Syria. However, it is a different time. When one considers the “off microphone” comments exchanged between French President Nicolas Sarkozy and President Obama, reported here, there is grave concern. The comment by Sarkozy referring to the Prime Minister as a liar was very disturbing, but the fact that Iran and other enemies of Israel know of these comments is unconscionable.
Presidents Sarkozy and Obama owe Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli people an apology. Not only were their comments disrespectful, but they also endanger the security of the modern day State of Israel. They must wholeheartedly reaffirm their commitment to the Jewish State of Israel, lest they be seen as emboldening and enabling the enemy. As long as their statements remain, Prime Minister Netanyahu has to be concerned whether a unilateral action against Iran will have French and American support.
Meanwhile, America’s economic situation continues to be a grave concern. We once again saw the Campaigner-in-Chief take front stage with the self-serving decision to table the $7 billion Keystone XL pipeline project. This pipeline project had undergone extensive environmental scrutiny and is determined to have minimal impact, as certified by the Unites States Department of State. A focused march towards our energy independence is a national security, economic, and employment issue. Americans win in all aspects with the construction of the pipeline. The estimation for putting people to work for this project is between 20,000 and 30,000 jobs.
It is obvious President Obama is making decisions that are not necessarily best for the country, but best for his reelection. He has clearly shown that the environmental lobbyists, along with Hollywood elites, are more important to him than struggling Americans. We have seen average gas prices go from $1.83 to $3.43 during his term, yet all we get from the President and his administration is crony capitalism and misconceived venture capitalist endeavors supporting their own ideologically-driven energy agenda.
The problems stem beyond the President. This past week we saw Democrat members of the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction walk out of discussions after Republican members, led by Pennsylvania Freshman Senator Pat Toomey, proved the budget is able to produce revenues by lowering marginal tax rates and eliminating loopholes. Senator Toomey had evidence to show leaders can hold capital gains, dividends, and estate tax rates where they are. By reducing the highest personal income tax rates by 7% from 35 % to 28%, doing the same across all tax brackets, and taking corporate tax rates from one of the highest in the world of 35% to 25%, there is hope to reform the tax code.
As you may know, the federal government saw a 6.5% increase in revenues last year, yet we still ran another record $1.3 trillion deficit. As I’ve said before, Washington DC does not have a revenue problem, it truly is a spending problem.
If there are some out there who still don’t believe America is truly in a crisis and this Administration and its policies are taking us in the wrong direction, I ask you to look at Greece and Italy and compare the debt to GDP ratio- an indicating factor of true crisis and chaos- America is not far behind. Greece has an unsustainable debt to GDP ratio of 128% – the Greek people have now forced Prime Minister George Papandreou out of office. Italy has a debt to GDP ratio of 120% and Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been forced out. America has a debt to GDP ratio of 101% and we will not be able to sustain this much longer. When will President Obama see that his policies are only taking us down the same road as these countries???
In closing, I want to share with you some clear examples of why Americans, when left to their own ideas and “choice” to help those less fortunate, will trump Federal Government programs any day.
Within the past week I attended events with those “Evil One Percenters” you know, those folks who hold all the wealth in America — yes, those same rascals who pay 38% of all federal taxes. The Faith, Hope, Love, and Charity event in Palm Beach Gardens raised money for the “Stand Down House” – a program for homeless veterans and their families. The charity has already furnished an apartment for a former homeless and jobless female veteran, allowing her to stand on her own, and this is just the beginning.
The Wounded Warriors Second Chance organization out of Jupiter, Florida, provides Wounded Warriors and their families a vacation getaway in sunny Florida. Watch a news clip on the weekend fundraiser here. The money raised allows the wounded to enjoy our beautiful South Florida sunshine and beaches, and find a moment of peace and solace.
I also attended the 24th Annual Yacht Rendezvous for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County. Here again were those selfish, fat cat “One Percenters” raising funds to expand Boys and Girls Clubs in Broward County and the after-school education and dinner programs. The result of these programs are higher graduation rates and fulfilling the Boys and Girls Club motto… “From backpacks to briefcases.”
Unlike President Obama and the liberal progressives with their goals of creating and expanding government dependency, the “One Percenters” don’t create more victims, they create victors! These victors expand the American entrepreneurial and philanthropic spirit!
