Allen, Angela and the West Family joined Fox and Friends Sunday 5/12/13 – Video

5/12/13 – Former Congressman Allen West on Sunday (R-FL) said that an admission by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that it had improperly scrutinized tea party groups was part of a wider conspiracy that included President Barack Obama’s administration forcing Republican-owned car dealerships to be shut down during the auto bailout in 2009.

Fox News host Alisyn Camerota asked West if he had any indications that the recently-revealed IRS practice of examining whether tea party groups were abusing their tax-exempt status was not limited to “rogue, low-level IRS agents in the Cincinnati office who thought that they were going to personally stick it to the tea party.”

“Well, of course,” the tea party-favorite Republican declared. “The most important thing we need to come to understand is your First Amendment rights is you have the right to petition the government for redress of your grievances. If we start to have a government that is targeting certain groups for their political ideology because they don’t believe it is in concert with their beliefs, this is Orwellian, to put it in the least manner.” “We’ve got to come back and have hearings on this,” he continued. “This is something that is criminal.”

Camerota wondered if West knew why the IRS had been asking tea party groups for their donor lists.

“One of the things you have to understand with those donor lists — and this is something that was brought up before the Small Business and also the Oversight Committee when I was there in Congress — they are after those lists because they want to put a lot of pressure on individuals,” West explained. “And there are a lot of folks out there concerned about coming out and being forthcoming about their support to political candidates and what have you.”

“There were a lot of automobile dealerships that were closed down because people found out who they were providing funds and support to, when you go back and look at that auto bailout.”

As part of Chrysler’s bailout deal with the U.S. government in 2008, the company agreed to close about a quarter of its 3,200 dealerships. By 2009, conservative media outlets like The Washington Examiner and Fox News were suggesting that the Obama administration had been disproportionately targeting Republican-owned dealers.

But FactCheck.org looked into the claims in September of 2009 and found that the “best evidence shows that dealerships with Republican donors weren’t disproportionately targeted — auto dealers overall tend to lean overwhelmingly Republican.” And even a Fox News study determined that “the data do not support the charges.”

“Nobody has bothered to look up data for the control group: the list of dealerships which aren’t being closed,” FiveThirtyEight’s Nate Silver wrote in 2009. “It turns out that all car dealers are, in fact, overwhelmingly more likely to donate to Republicans than to Democrats — not just those who are having their doors closed.”

“Overall, 88 percent of the contributions from car dealers went to Republican candidates and just 12 percent to Democratic candidates,” Silver pointed out. “There’s no conspiracy here, folks — just some bad math.”

The Essence Of Leadership - Lessons from my life and recent American history

Back in 2003 as a combat battalion commander in Iraq, I made a decision that changed the course of my life. I took an action to protect the men under my command by firing my service 9 mm Beretta pistol over the head of an Iraqi policeman who we heard had been supporting insurgent forces with information leading to ambushes against our unit.

Left-wing progressives have stupidly called me a “war criminal,” and they unfortunately misinterpreted my departure from the military. Just so those chuckleheads know, I did not resign. I retired with full honors, benefits, rank and title. The problem for some critics of the war on terror is that they fail to understand we are not playing hopscotch but are engaged in battle with a non-state, non-uniformed enemy.

I understood that and will always stand by my action in 2003. Here was my response when asked if I would take the same action: “If it is about the lives and safety of my men, I would go through hell with a gasoline can.”

My Dad and older brother both served in combat, the former in World War II and the latter in Vietnam. They were enlisted servicemen, and I was the first commissioned officer in the family. (Now my nephew is the second.) Right before I headed off to Fort Sill, Okla., my Dad and brother taught me that as an officer and a commander, my first responsibility would be the well-being of my men.

The lesson they conveyed to me is that if my troops knew I would train them hard but never use them for my personal advancement, I would be a successful leader. We would always accomplish our mission.

Tough questions about Extortion 17

This week America has been confronted with tough questions about leadership.

The first queries came on Thursday at the National Press Club. I attended a press conference moderated by Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch. The subject was the horrific special operations mission of Aug. 6, 2011, call sign Extortion 17.

America suffered its single greatest loss of special operators – 22 Navy SEALS of the famous SEAL Team VI, five crewmembers of a U.S. Army CH-47 and three U.S. Air Force tactical controllers. Parents of four of the fallen warriors were at the press conference, which was live-streamed on www.trentovision.tv.

The event called attention to the importance of leadership because appalling, systemic failures in leadership resulted in this tragedy:

  • Why was the quick reaction force called into action that day?

  • Why were they transported in a CH-47D instead of the typical Special Operations MH-47 aircraft? Why was a CH-47D sent into the hot landing zone of a three-hour firefight?

  • Why were there no pre-assault fires or accompanying attack helicopter support for Extortion 17?

  • How did the Taliban know these special operators were going into that river valley hotbed in Wardak province?

  • Why were seven Afghan commandos switched out at the last minute for this mission and the manifest never changed?

And most egregious, who made the decision to let a Muslim cleric give a prayer at the ramp ceremony for these fallen American warriors – a disrespectful scene made clear when one sees the video with translation?

Thanks to media bias, we do not hear much about Afghanistan, especially the fact that 79 percent of the deaths and nearly 15,000 casualties in Afghanistan have occurred during President Obama’s tenure as the commander-in-chief.

Benghazi is a big deal

Congressional hearings about the terror attack at the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, Libya, further highlighted the results of lousy leadership. Again thanks to media bias, Americans might believe Benghazi is nothing worth discussing – old news that happened a long time ago. But imagine if the attack had happened during a Republican presidential administration.

The hearings forced the Obama administration to answer – or to dodge – questions about the tragedy:

  • Why was U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens traveling into eastern Libya, a place where the black al Qaeda flags fly prominently, in or around the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks?

  • Who gave the stand-down order to U.S. forces ready to help after the attack on the embassy began?

  • Who altered the talking points memo that initially called the incident a terrorist attack by Ansar al-Sharia, who is affiliated with Al Qaeda?

Losing an ambassador cannot become the new normal, and abandoning former Navy SEALS engaged in mortal combat is reprehensible.

Are some Americans so concerned with protecting a likable president and shielding a presidential candidate they believe is entitled that they would sacrifice Americans? Do they seriously believe that is leadership?

Service versus speechmaking

Those who want to attack me for the action I took in Iraq, I just laugh at you. I took the action so I would never have to face tearful parents like those who lost their sons in Extortion 17. I took the action so the families of those killed in Benghazi – Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Ty Woods and Glenn Dougherty – would not have to wonder why it happened.

Leaders serve those for whom they are given the privilege to lead. They do so selflessly, with no regard for their own personal advancement or comfort.

If we are to secure the blessings of liberty for the next generation, we had best figure out what a leader is. He or she is not a charlatan, not a usurper and certainly not merely a smiling, delightful speechmaker.

Steadfast and Loyal,

Allen B. West

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a very big problem in Washington DC handling the truth. In August 2011, just months after the killing of Osama Bin Laden, a CH-47 helicopter loaded with America’s most elite warriors, US Navy SEALS, was shot down in Afghanistan. Today the parents of several of those fallen warriors will speak out about the mission and the failures which they believe led to the deaths of their sons. The group will include former constituents and friends of mine, Karen and Billy Vaughn, who lost their Son Petty Officer Aaron Vaughn in the incident. The press conference will be streamed live on www.trentovision.tv starting at 9:30am EST. I will be there and ask you all to tune in and hear the truth from the parents of our warriors.

Allen West “The trail of deceit in the Benghazi incident leads back to the White House”

benghazi

by Allen West via Facebook and Twitter

House Oversight Committee on Benghazi hearing today, and yes, it does make a difference. The difference is, have certain individuals become so focused on winning political offices that they will lie, deceive, and mislead the American people? Are we so willing to sacrifice the lives of four Americans just so we can have a president we like and set up a presidential run for someone we feel is entitled? Losing an Ambassador cannot be the new normal. Abandoning two former US Navy SEALS engaged in mortal combat is reprehensible. Warning to the MSM, if you maintain your normal political bias in this case you will never be forgiven. Furthermore, you will have surrendered your journalistic integrity, assuming it ever existed. President Richard M. Nixon resigned over breaking and entering. The trail of deceit in the Benghazi incident leads back to the White House. Video, what damn video? President Obama, I recommend you search your soul for honesty because no silver-tongued teleprompter speech is acceptable. Salvage your honor, what little there is, or face the eventual wrath of the American people: yes, impeachment.

The Obama Admin’s blatant disdain for US Military who teach truth about Islam. LTC Dooley needs our help

Lt Dooley

by National Vote Out Incumbents via Facebook

Lt. Col Matthew Dooley, a West Point graduate and highly decorated combat veteran, was an instructor at the Joint Forces Staff College at the National Defense University. He had 19 years of service and experience, and was considered one of the most highly qualified military instructors on Radical Islam & Terrorism. He taught military students about the situations they would encounter, how to react, about Islamic culture, traditions, and explained the mindset of Islamic extremists. Passing down first hand knowledge and experience, and teaching courses that were suggested (and approved) by the Joint Forces Staff College. The course “Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism” ,which was suggested and approved by the Joint Forces Staff College, caught the attention of several Islamic Groups, and they wanted to make an example of him.

They collectively wrote a letter expressing their outrage, and the Pro-Islamic Obama Administration was all too happy to assist. The letter was passed to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff , Martin Dempsey. Dempsey publicly degraded and reprimanded Dooley, and Dooley received a negative Officer Evaluation Report almost immediately (which he had aced for the past 5 years). He was relieved of teaching duties, and his career has been red-flagged.

“He had a brilliant career ahead of him. Now, he has been flagged.” – Richard Thompson, Thomas More Law Center

“All US military Combatant Commands, Services, the National Guard Bureau, and Joint Chiefs are under Dempsey’s Muslim Brotherhood-dictated order to ensure that henceforth, no US military course will ever again teach truth about Islam that the jihadist enemy finds offensive ,or just too informative.” – Former CIA agent Claire M. Lopez (about Lt. Col Dooley)

The Obama Administration has demonstrated lightning speed to dismiss Military brass that does not conform to its agenda, and not surprisingly, nobody is speaking up for Lt. Col. Dooley.

IT’S A SAD DAY FOR THIS COUNTRY WHEN GOOD LOYAL MEN LIKE THIS GET THROWN UNDER THE BUS BECAUSE NOBODY HAS THE COURAGE TO STAND UP!

THIS BRAVE SOLDIER NEEDS OUR SUPPORT, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION AND DEMAND HE BE RETURNED TO DUTY. THIS PRESIDENT COMMITS ACTS AGAINST OUR NATION ALMOST DAILY. CONGRESS IN THEIR SILENT CONSENT SEEM TO AGREE WITH HIM. DEMAND JUSTICE, LET’S MAKE THIS GO EVERYWHERE. ~Benghazi~

Jason Collins’ Convenient Coming Out – It doesn’t take courage to be gay in today’s America

I just gotta tell ya, it is really easy to write these weekly missives because there never seems to be a lack of chuckleheads doing things that perplex me.

First up this week: On Monday NBA player Jason Collins told us all that he is black – duh – and that he is gay. He immediately became the center of attention with a Sports Illustrated cover story, praise and accolades, TV interviews, and even attention from former President Clinton and President Obama.

People praised Collins for being courageous and heroic. Now, I have to tell you, courage would be announcing you are a gay basketball player in, say, Iran. It does not take courage to state something that will make you a cultural darling.

Collins’ declaration reminds me of the words of Thomas Jefferson: “In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.” So you can bet my not jumping on the Jason Collins bandwagon will draw the ire of those who swim with the current and fawn over what is politically correct in our culture.

Where is Greg Robinson’s call, Mr. President?

On the same Monday at Fort Campbell, Ky., 34-year-old Army Sgt. First Class Greg Robinson became the first amputee to complete the grueling course called Air Assault School. I am a graduate of that school and can attest to the rigors of what is called “the toughest 10 days in the Army.” I will never forget losing 8 pounds during the hot summer I went through Air Assault School.

SFC Robinson lost part of his right leg during a combat deployment to Afghanistan in 2006. Here were his words about going through the school: “Right now, I am a platoon sergeant and I have roughly 30 men in my platoon. As a leader, I didn’t want to tell my soldiers that they needed to go to Air Assault School if I am not air assault qualified.”

Even though SFC Robinson’s prosthetic leg broke twice during his time at the school, the standards were never lowered. During the final 12-mile road march with a 35- to 40-liter rucksack and full combat gear, he had to stop and repair his prosthetic leg. SFC Robinson has four combat deployments in his 16 years and quietly stated, “It’s not a disability if you don’t let it slow you down.”

He is assigned to the famed 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), and on graduation day he was pinned with his Air Assault wings before his wife Amanda, 4-year-old daughter Drew, and his soldiers – no phone call from the commander-in-chief, no magazine cover, no tweets giving him praise and accolades.

SFC Greg Robinson does not need their confirmation. He is an American hero who did not swim with the current. He stood like a rock. Air Assault!

Giving quarter to Islamic radicalism

Another tale of everyday heroism came in the April 28 Washington Times article by Rowan Scarborough, “Top Brass Crush Career of Army Officer Who Warned of Jihadists.” The story detailed the case of decorated Army Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley, who was removed as an instructor at the Joint Forces Staff College.

Back in October 2011, 57 American Islamic organizations, several with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, sent a letter to then-Obama counter-terrorism adviser John Brennan. They demanded that the U.S. government scrub its teaching on Islam, “purge” all training materials that they judged to be offensive to Islam, and ensure that any offending instructors “are effectively disciplined.”

In an unprecedented move, the chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff personally attacked LTC Dooley, an instructor who had an approved curriculum and presentation for his course, “Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism.”

Even worse, an Army Command Selection Review Board of three generals and two colonels voted to retain LTC Dooley as a candidate for combat Battalion Command. Then-Vice Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Lloyd Austin overturned the board’s decision.

We discussed this case on Next Generation TV (log in first to watch) with Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, who is representing LTC Dooley.

Of course the apologists and useful idiots, like the two University of California at Los Angeles professors who proclaimed in The New York Times that America failed the accused Boston Marathon bombers because we did not do a good job assimilating them, will attack LTC Dooley.

Choose your hero to confront jihad

I implore you all to read the “Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Brotherhood in North America.” The FBI uncovered this document during a raid in the basement of a home in Northern Virginia. Mohammed Akram, also known as Mohammed Adlouni, wrote the document for the Shura Council of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Here is one of the more notable quotes:

The process of settlement is a “Civilization-Jihadist Process” with all the word means. The Ilkwan (Brotherhood) must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions. Without this level of understanding, we are not up to this challenge and have not prepared ourselves for Jihad yet.

It is a Muslim’s destiny to perform Jihad and work everywhere he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny except for those who chose to slack. But, would the slackers and the Mujahideen be equal.

Make your choice, America. Who is the hero who will confront this enemy, Jason Collins or SFC Greg Robinson and LTC Matthew Dooley? The next generation will need the latter, not the former.

Steadfast and Loyal,

Allen B. West

Allen West “We can’t afford for our military to not be ready at a moment’s notice to defend us” #Sequester

Military_Equipment_MI-resize-380x300

Defense Department officials and military leaders warned in the months leading up to sequestration that the March 1 budget cuts would severely inhibit their readiness capabilities. Two months later, we’re seeing firsthand just how serious they were.

According to Vice Admiral William Burke of the U.S. Navy:

“Due to reduced training and maintenance, almost all of our non-deployed ships and aviation squadrons are soon going to be less than fully mission capable and not certified for major combat operations. That’s about two-thirds of the fleet.”

The Marine Corps is reporting similar readiness issues, with Lieutenant General William Tryon estimating that half of non-deployed units are at “unacceptable” levels of readiness:

“And our crisis response mission is incompatible with tiered readiness. Marines don’t start to get ready when a crisis occurs. We must be ready, we must be forward deployed and we must be prepared to respond immediately.”

We can’t afford for our military to not be ready at a moment’s notice to defend us—especially in a post-9/11 world in which American civilians were killed in a terrorist attack on U.S. soil just last month. As a former Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, I’ll be the first to tell you the Defense Department is not immune to fraud, waste, and abuse.

There are plenty of areas in which spending could be cut without impacting the readiness and morale of our troops! But across the board budget cuts that chip away at the training and equipment available to our troops sets a dangerous precedent. This is precisely why we’ve launched the Allen West Guardian Fund to elect 12 hard-charging conservatives who will fight to keep our defense and national security a top priority in Washington.

Our team will soon begin introducing the candidates we’re supporting in 2014. We’ll also be announcing various events and programs we’re planning to further the dialogue about defending America and our Constitutional values. I look forward to sharing this important information with you in the near future. In the meantime, God bless America.
