Greetings to our constituents, fellow Floridians, and all Americans.
What a week. My observation about the political ideology of the “left” apparently generated such an extreme response, it indicated a direct hit. I am pleased that many Americans are beginning to take a look at the history of the progressive movement and the truth behind it.
When one examines the spectrum of political ideology on the “left,” there is little separation between the strategy and tactics of Communism, Progressivism, Marxism, Socialism, and a newly coined term, “Statism.” Actually, it was at the turn of the century in the United States of America that the reference “progressive” was introduced. Those using the term “communist” decided they needed a bit of “rebranding.” However, the basic fundamentals and beliefs did not change.
The term “progressive” is used to refer to the administration of President Woodrow Wilson. Out of the Wilson Administration came some very interesting policies that reflect the far left ideological structure, including a central government bank (Federal Reserve), support to a world body politic (League of Nations), and taxation on production (16th Amendment to the US Constitution).
When we speak of the spectrum of the political left, we see these very interesting aspects: nationalizing production, creating and expanding a welfare state, creating social and economic equality, and creating a secular state. When you recognize these things, as well as centralized financial control and centralized education, I must be truthful to my constituents and the American people. Today in the United States House of Representatives, we have a Congressional Progressive Caucus that does not possess beliefs in concert with that of our Constitutional Republic: individual sovereignty, economic freedom, and limited fiscally responsible government.
Here are some examples of recent legislative activities from members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC):
– An amendment to the United States Constitution to redistribute wealth (H.J. Res. 34)
- Windfall profit taxes and price controls on certain American industries (H.R .3784)
- Higher taxes on those deemed by the government to earn too much (H.R. 1124)
- Praising Cuban dictator Fidel Castro after a 2009 visit to Cuba
President Barack Obama visited South Florida last week. Not surprisingly, his speech focused on yet another political gimmick used to try and attack Americans. His speech on the “Buffet Rule” will only foster more divisiveness amongst producers and those who believe they are entitled. This horrific tax policy does nothing to either raise revenue or affect the debt and deficit in America. Doubling capital gains taxes will destroy investment in America. The real purpose of the increase in taxation is to score political points.
Over the past decade, we have seen federal government spending as a percentage of GDP grow from 17-18 percent to 24 percent with a glide path to 32-33 percent. This is unsustainable.
The original progressive, President Woodrow Wilson, created taxation on personal income to feed the growing federal government. The current progressive president in the White House seeks to leverage tax increases (which was not supposed to happen) to feed the bureaucratic nanny-state and support the growing American welfare-state.
Those are the facts and we must be able to draw the contrast between the two competing ideologies in America, and make the choice between two futures for America.
We, as conservative Republicans, must have the courage to address that contrast and not fear the liberal media and their insidious and vile attacks. If we are reticent in standing upon principle and pointing out these critical issues, then we are failing our constituents. I welcome the opportunity to debate those who have a different political ideology in the arena of ideas.

Mr Krauthammer’s op-ed piece clearly articulates Obama’s disastrous bit of wealth redistribution policy entitled the Buffett Rule. It does not impact our debt or deficit and would require some 250 years just to alleviate one year of Obama trillion dollar plus deficits. Bill Clinton pivoted and worked with the GOP led House and Senate, Obama has tripled down. This is a choice between two ideologies which yield two very different futures for America. I challenge my liberal admirers to show me where in the world has a socialist egalitarian State been successful?

Here we go again.
At the beginning of his presidency, Barack Obama argued that the country’s spiraling debt was largely the result of exploding health-care costs. That was true. He then said the cure for these exploding costs would be his health-care reform. That was not true.
It was obvious at the time that it could never be true. If government gives health insurance to 33 million uninsured, that costs. Costs a lot. There is no free lunch.
Now we know. The Congressional Budget Office’s latest estimate is that Obamacare will add $1.76 trillion in federal expenditures through 2022. And, as one of the Medicare trustees has just made clear, if you don’t double count the $575 billion set aside for the Medicare trust fund, Obamacare adds to the already crushing national debt.
Three years later, we are back to smoke and mirrors. This time it’s not health care but the Buffett Rule, which would impose a minimum 30 percent effective tax rate on millionaires. Here is how Obama introduced it last September:
“Warren Buffett’s secretary shouldn’t pay a [higher] tax rate than Warren Buffett. . . .And that basic principle of fairness, if applied to our tax code, could raise enough money” to “stabilize our debt and deficits for the next decade. . . . This is not politics; this is math.”
Okay. Let’s do the math. The Joint Committee on Taxation estimates this new tax would yield between $4 billion and $5 billion a year. If we collect the Buffett tax for the next 250 years — a span longer than the life of this republic — it would not cover the Obama deficit for 2011 alone.
As an approach to our mountain of debt, the Buffett Rule is a farce. And yet Obama repeated the ridiculous claim again this week. “It will help us close our deficit.” Does he really think we’re that stupid?

America today is confronting the greatest threat to its existence in living memory. Faced with multiple complex domestic and foreign policy dangers that threaten to destroy the fabric of American society and place it at the hands of its merciless enemies.
On the home front there is the staggering financial deficit of $16.4 Trillion debt which is growing alarmingly by the day in colossal interest rates, the mass unemployment throughout the land which is now running at 9.1 of the labor force, the millions of foreclosures across the States, and the rapidly declining moral and religious values which once were enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic by the Founding Fathers as the moral compass of the nation. Coupled with a President in Barack Hussein Obama who is hell bent on sidestepping Congress by his hyperactive use of his Presidential orders to impose partisan measures and decrees on its helpless citizens.

We are witnessing secular Muslim leaders being deposed in very volatile and unstable nations. This growing Islamic Totalitarianism manifested in militant Islam has had a modus operand [sic] of capitalizing on unstable political situations (Iran, Afghanistan, Somalia).
Now we see these same types of instances occurring in Egypt, Libya, and Syria and the rose-colored glasses of some seek to portray this as a great awakening of liberty. History does not support this in the Middle East.
We must evaluate these occurrences through the prism of keen strategic and operational insight which looks out 10, 20, or 30 years.
If we had done so during the deposing of the Shah of Iran, we might have been able to prevent what arose. The Iran with which we must contend today is the major exporter of Islamic totalitarianism and state sponsored terrorism.
