I pray these 560, part of 4,647, will not be abandoned…as Obama has done to our law enforcement officers.
As Written By Allen B. West:
There can be no doubt President Obama completely blew his chance to rise above and heal this nation yesterday in Dallas. Sadly, the resounding message conveyed is that we’re all biased. And as we’re about to enter into another college football season, I will admit, yes, I am biased…towards my Tennessee Volunteers.
It’s as if Barack Obama wanted to justify the cold-blooded murders of those five Dallas police officers. Our Republic is on edge, and at a time when Obama could have shown himself as a leader, he retreated to the same old tired ideological agenda of divisiveness and racial tension. What is bewildering is this “black” man who is president is still talking about slavery. It’s as if we’re stuck on reruns of “We Shall Overcome” — and there’s no intent for that moment of overcoming. After all, it’s politically expedient to have victims.
But, as always, while we’re looking one way, there’s something happening elsewhere. Obama has failed domestically –well, that is unless you’re a joyous progressive socialist radical celebrating the chasm developing in America. And of course, there’s another failure playing out elsewhere.
As reported by the Army Times, “The United States will send 560 more troops to Iraq to transform a freshly retaken air base into a staging hub for the long-awaited battle to recapture Mosul from Islamic State militants, Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Monday.
The new American forces should arrive in the coming weeks. Most of the engineers, logistics personnel, security and communications forces will concentrate on building up Qayara air base, about 40 kilometers south of Mosul. They will assist Iraqi forces planning to encircle and eventually retake the biggest city anywhere that has fallen under ISIS’ control.
The extremist group captured Mosul in the summer of 2014. It has used the city as a main headquarters since.
“These additional U.S. forces will bring unique capabilities to the campaign and provide critical enabler support to Iraqi forces at a key moment in the fight,” Carter said on an unannounced visit to the country. Lt. Gen. Sean MacFarland, the top U.S. commander in the fight against the Islamic State group, said they have already received warning orders to deploy and will flow in “relatively soon.”
Carter announced President Obama’s decision as he met about 120 troops in a building at Baghdad’s airport, shielded from scorching desert hovering near 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It is Obama’s second U.S. troop increase in Iraq in the last three months, and it brings the total U.S. force authorization there to 4,647. If commanders need more troops, Carter said he’ll “ask the president for them.”
Remember Vice President Joe Biden once claiming Iraq would prove to be Barack Obama’s greatest foreign policy achievement? Of course he was referring to the decision to completely withdraw all American forces from Iraq. Of course the progressive socialist leftists will just blame Bush. But never forget it was President Obama who rejected the recommendation of the generals on the ground to maintain a residual force in Iraq.
President Obama’s lack of a focused strategy in Iraq is reflective in this recurring example of what most concerns the military professional: mission creep. It is manifested in the drip-drip policy of adding and deploying small numbers of troops without an overall combat vision.
Obama’s actions remind us of President Lyndon Johnson, and his micromanagement of Vietnam. Just as Johnson liked to approve bombing targets, so does the Obama White House approve drone targets –neither method proves effective, strategically.
So, is anyone speaking up about the mission creep happening in Iraq?
General Lloyd Austin, who was the Commanding General in Iraq, had offered a plan that would have required 10-15,000 troops. Here we are about 30 percent of the maximum number requested. Yes, we’re focused on the horrific events here on our streets but we’re sending our men and women into harm’s way piecemeal and one can only be concerned about the ROE, rules of engagement.
And what of the Special Operations forces that Obama “dispatched” to Syria — what is their status? Have they been effective? What concerns me is that the liberal progressive media isn’t doing its job (shocker) and questioning President Obama and Secretary of Defense Ash Carter about their strategy. Furthermore, why tell the enemy you’re coming and to where? So much for that principle of war called the element of surprise.
As well, I want you to understand battlefield calculus. We are deploying U.S. military forces just 24 miles from the ISIS stronghold of Mosul. We shared here the loss of a U.S. Marine and several wounded when the Taliban attacked their forward operating base. U.S. Navy SEAL Charles Keating IV lost his life as part of a rescue effort for U.S. forces pinned down in an ISIS assault.
So now, Obama has decided to deploy 560 troops within striking range of …..
