Allen West is the CEO for the National Center for Policy Analysis, a nonpartisan public policy think tank. In today’s article, he has his choice of so much absurd news that it took a minute to decide what to cover. One of the issues that caught his attention was the United Nations appointing Saudi Arabia to Commission on the Status of Women. I like the analogy he puts forth. Read on, please.
As Written By Allen B. West:
There is so much to comment on these days. As a matter of fact, I was considering addressing policy solutions for the socialist breakdown in Venezuela. The situation in Venezuela has immense consequences, as South America has become a sanctuary for socialists and Islamic jihadists.
As well, President Trump’s first 100 days comes to an end this week. Needless to say he has not enjoyed a media “honeymoon,” especially compared to what we witnessed eight years ago with the chosen one, Barack Hussein Obama. Yes, I am waiting to see what transpires with the promised Trump administration tax reform plan supposed to be released by Wednesday. And we know the little fat fella with the bad haircut over in North Korea is talking about sinking a U.S. aircraft carrier. Yeah right, that boy needs to be taken out behind the woodshed.
Now, with all this – oops, I forgot about the Australian citizenship values test — there was a story that popped up that is so totally absurd I had to share it with y’all.
As reported by the folks over at Breitbart.com, “The United Nations Economic and Social Council voted late last week to place Saudi Arabia on the Commission on the Status of Women for a four-year term beginning in 2018, despite that country’s appalling record on the treatment of women.
Hillel Neuer, director of the Geneva-based UN Watch, expressed his outrage in a statement Friday: “Electing Saudi Arabia to protect women’s rights is like making an arsonist into the town fire chief. It’s absurd.”
“Every Saudi woman,” said Neuer, “must have a male guardian who makes all critical decisions on her behalf, controlling a woman’s life from her birth until death. Saudi Arabia also bans women from driving cars.” According to UN Watch, the United States forced a formal vote, against China’s wishes, instead of allowing the normal practice of allowing regional groupings to select the nations on the commission by themselves, in secret. However, the vote was still held behind closed doors, meaning it is not yet clear precisely which countries voted to honor one of the world’s foremost abusers of women’s rights. Neuer calculates, based on the voting math, that at least five European Union member states would have had to vote for Saudi Arabia for it to win a seat on the commission.”
Perhaps you’d like an example of just how reformed they’ve become in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“In 2015, Saudi Arabia reduced a Sri Lankan woman’s sentence for adultery from execution by stoning to three years in prison.”
I remember a few years back that when a fire broke out at a girls’ school in Saudi Arabia, the religious gestapo blocked the exit doors for the young girls since they were not properly attired. Therefore, these young girls burned to death instead of violating the insidious standards of sharia, Islamic, law. Yes, fifteen young girls died that infamous day of March 11, 2002 in Mecca thanks to the death squad of the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. I don’t think that committee has anything to do with Saudi men who travel to Bahrain and Dubai for certain acts of vice…such hypocrisy.
And to think that a woman can still be executed by stoning for adultery in Saudi Arabia is ludicrous. It is abject absurdity that such a backass country could be voted onto the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. What does it say about our own values in western civilization that we would allow such a thing to happen?
As well, we have another example of China standing in the way of common sense. I thought we weren’t BFFs with the ChiComs. I’m quite interested to know which five European Union member states voted for Saudi Arabia to gain a seat on this commission. However, this just seems to be business as usual at the den of corruption where dictators, despots and autocrats hang out, the United Nations.
And if you haven’t been watching, our Ambassador to the United Nations, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, has been doing America proud. She’s by far surpassing the appeasing previous owner of that position in the Obama administration, Samantha Power.
Can you just imagine the daily frustration Ambassador Haley must feel as she contends with these chuckleheads? Let’s ask the obvious question, where are all those astute liberal progressive socialist feminists? I mean let’s not forget that Ms. Linda Sarsour, organizer of the million woman march the Saturday after the presidential inauguration, is to deliver a university commencement address. Ms. Sarsour is also a staunch supporter of sharia law practices, so I am confused, for whom exactly does she advocate women’s rights? Is she just another stealth jihadist who will lure in the progressive socialist left to be partners enabling a “civilizational jihad” in America?
Doggone, can you imagine Madonna and Ashley Judd in burkhas? It could be coming, since we’re finding out that female gentile mutilation, an abhorrent anti-woman practice, is being conducted here in the United States. You know, next we’ll have sharia law zones and a committee for the promotion of virtue and prevention of vice coming to a city near you.
Ok, I’m sorry, after all, I’m just an Islamophobe for bringing out these points. You know this is nothing compared to Christians not wanting to bake a cake or take photos at a same-sex marriage. That is by far a more horrific and heinous violation of individual rights. Just a reminder, “when tolerance becomes a one way street, it leads to cultural suicide.”
The time is soon coming — perhaps it’s already here — for the United States, and other nations with a conscience, to exit the United Nations. If anything the United States just needs to cut off its financial support to the UN, especially after this journey into the absurd.
I would offer that the usefulness of the United Nations has exceeded its expiration date, just as with the League of Nations. The problem is that these collective bodies of governance — the European Union is another — often morph into something beyond their original mandate. They become the playgrounds of those with more of a globalist agenda.
When you consider that the United Nations security council didn’t vote to condemn Syrian president Bashar Assad for using chemical weapons on his own people, that is a wake up call. The UN has no problem condemning Israel at every possible opportunity. The Organization for Islamic Cooperation is using the UN and Resolution 16/18 to censor free speech.
And previously, the Obama administration was seeking to use the UN as a means to undermine our sovereign Second Amendment right. It’s time to bid a not so …….
