Congressman Allen West to serve as honorary host for CBC foundation event, “African-Americans in the Military, Past, Present and Future”

What:  As part of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Conference, Congressman West will serve as the honorary host for an informative and interactive discussion addressing the following:

Is the military a positive career choice for African-Americans? Why or why not?

What is causing the decline of African-Americans joining the military?

Why aren’t more African-Americans making it into the military’s top ranks?

Why are black officers less likely than white officers to serve in Special Forces and other
elite combat teams?

How can the military and Congress increase the number of African-Americans serving
in the military?
