James Comey wrote some memos. Now the House is DEMANDING them

One of the things that former FBI Director James Comey did was write memos regarding each of his meetings with President Donald Trump. These were basically notes and reflections of his remembrance of the meetings. Mr. Comey has made at least two large mistakes with these memos. One mistake was revealing that they had been written. Then he revealed that he leaked them to the media on purpose through a friend. Now the House wants them. There are three different House committees that are demanding that Justice Department provide them in unredacted form. It will be interesting to read these memos if the House can obtain them.

As Written and Reported By Kelly Cohen for the Washington Examiner:

Three Republican lawmakers are pressing the Justice Department to turn over former FBI Director James Comey’s memos, just as portions of Comey’s upcoming book are being leaked to the press.

“Copies of any unclassified memos should be produced to all three Committees in unredacted form. Copies of any memos containing classified information should be produced to all three Committees in both (1) unredacted form, in an appropriately secure setting; and (2) declassified form, with appropriate redactions,” the lawmakers wrote in a one-page letter dated Friday.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Ca., said there is “no legal basis for withholding these materials from Congress.”

Comey, who was fired by President Trump last May, said in congressional testimony that he kept memos memorializing conversations with the president.

A federal judge ruled in February the memos were to remain secret, saying they could harm special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election…..
