U.S. Rep. Allen West, Commissioner LaMarca cheer free trade bill – Broward Politics

Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca, far left, and Port Everglades Director Phil Allen, obscured by someone’s hair, were among the officials at the port Tuesday with U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation.

West was there to call on the president to sign the recently passed bill for free trade with South Korea, Colombia and Panama. Just before the event, he was advised that President Obama intends to sign it Friday.

Port Everglades is one of the largest ports in America, and does more exporting — $11 billion last year — than any other port in Florida, port officials said.
